Next time my Mexican extended family calls me Americano, I'm calling them one too.

We have a saying, up here in the frozen north, that's a take-off on that sappy line from the 1970 tear-jerker "Love Story":

"Love means never having to say you're sorry".

We say: "Being Canadian means never having to say you're American."
