I think the USA is in massive debt though https://www.visualcapitalist.com/97-trillion-of-global-debt-in-2023/ (Canada 3 trillion in debt) not sure how its going to get out of that mess. Only so long one can go on living off of a credit card before the piper comes calling for its returns. No free lunch I guess?
( good videos on money and debt velocity of money https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE88E9ICdiphYjJkeeLL2O09eJoC8r7Dc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8etB_ft35gU ) deficits are one thing - some years are better than others some are not, debt is another thing esp if there is not much ROI/value for all that spending. Cash in the empties?

what if everyone starts joining BRICS? https://www.theasset.com/article/52673/over-30-countries-seek-to-join-brics
https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/5-Oil-Producing-Nations-Ask-To-Join-BRICS-Alliance.html

good read oil, tariffs, trade and wars https://www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/article/economist-jeff-rubin-offers-a-map-of-the-new-normal/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0NwC8vSSeE oil/energy a huge factor to economic growth now https://www.worldometers.info/oil takes a lotta energy to move things around https://marinetraffic.com/ and oil is everywhere from production to movement of goods.

In mexico I suspect water is the precious gem, in USA its oil (blows through 20 million barrels a day https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=709 )
Sustainable, probably not...

small is good simple is smart sort of living again? time will tell I guess.
As we (Canada included) go from one extreme to the next.
Government spending is very screwy, who spends it all in a year then asks for more? Auditing is even more screwy, I worked auditing for the government it was a toxic mess I had to leave (took pay cut and demotion just to protect my mental health, health over wealth any day). They were taking the money to fix things and spent it on salary dollars the ombuds person said in my exit interview. Trying to raise red flags was impossible in there. Need early audits, independent small firms doing audits continuously and automated audits. But, that ain't happening any time soon. Mess builds the empires seen that many of times over in my 24yrs gov 10 years working for giant corporations (ie lockheed) Trying to raise red flags is a very hard thing to do. Career limiting move.
